We are enormously pleased that our destination has received the international award for sustainable tourism. It acknowledges our daily efforts towards achieving a liveable future. At the same time, however, this award is also an incentive to continue to take further, bold steps towards sustainability with all participants. Our goal is to preserve our valley for our grandchildren in a form that can be enjoyed both by the people who live here and you as a visitor. A place that deals responsibly with its resources and takes care of what makes it special for the generations to come.

Perhaps as you enter our valley and marvel at the pristine natural landscape. Protected by the tall mountains – more than 80 over three thousand metres high. In the abundance of water and the pure air. When you chat with the locals. In the “certified sustainable” accommodations or when shopping for regional produce. And in the many other areas of life where you will feel our passionate commitment to protecting our culture and way of life and developing them in a sustainable way.

The criteria at a glance

The requirements of the GSTC are based on four thematic areas of sustainability:

Socio-economic: support for the local economy, fair working conditions and the protection of social structures
Cultural: preservation of and support for local traditions, customs and cultural heritage
Ecological: protection of the environment and natural resources through responsible management and environmentally-friendly practices
Strategic: adequate management with solid and transparent objectives.
