By electric or hydrogen car

If travelling from the north or south via the Brenner motorway to South Tyrol, take the Brixen/Pustertal exit, then continue via the main state road into the Puster Valley as far as Bruneck. There turn off into the Ahrntal Valley.

For the section of the route in Austria, you need a toll road sticker. To make rapid progress, we recommend that you obtain a digital toll road sticker online in advance. You need to pay a toll on the Italian motorways.

You can also reach us via Lienz in Eastern Tyrol (A). Cross the Austrian-Italian border between Ahrnbach and Winnebach and continue along the main state road into the Puster Valley and to Bruneck. Turn off into the Ahrntal Valley there.

In South Tyrol there are plenty of electric charging points, where you can recharge your electric car.
Visitors travelling here with a hydrogen car, can refuel their vehicle at the Bolzano hydrogen filling station. A member of staff will do this for you if you call ahead.

From January 2025, the Lueg bridge will only be passable in one lane (Austrian side of Brenner)

In addition to the planned work starting in January, from 7 October 2024 there will be repairs to fix the damage to the Lueg Bridge and therefore single-lane traffic for 3-4 weeks. From January 2025, traffic on the Lueg bridge will be temporarily limited to one lane in each direction in order to allow for major maintenance work to ensure optimal safety. During periods of heavy traffic, there will continue to be two lanes available. Recent tests have shown that this solution is feasible and maintains a smooth and safe flow of traffic, minimising inconvenience for motorists.

Alternative travel options:
To avoid the restrictions on the Lueg Bridge, guests can also choose alternative travel options.

Train travel
The Brenner railway line will not be restricted during the renovation. We recommend the following national and regional providers:

Traffic information
Less traffic is generally expected on weekdays than on weekends and public holidays. To avoid congestion, guests can travel on weekdays and outside holiday periods if possible.

Alternative routes
Alternatively, you can travel via the Reschen Pass or take a wider detour through Switzerland.
