Breathe freely in the Ahrntal valley
Good air is an elixir of life and there is plenty of it in the Ahrntal Valley. So much so that the long valley in the Rieserferner Ahrn Nature Park can call itself a clean air area.
Why is the air here so good? It has to do with the high alpine location between 1000 and 3500 metres and over 90 three-thousand metre peaks, the wooded slopes and the abundance of water.
120 drinking water springs, 35 mountain lakes, ten waterfalls: When it comes to water, the Ahrntal Valley truly draws from the full. The valley ends where the northernmost mountain in the country rises. Through traffic? Not a thing. This landscape full of mountains, forests, alpine meadows and water provides the purest air - almost free of fine dust, pollen and allergens. Fine terpenes from the forests have a beneficial effect on body and mind. Like a green lung, the Alps rise up out of the sea of fine dust and allow you to take clean, revitalising breaths. That's a promise.
But it's not just high up on the mountain that the Ahrntal Valley can boast exceptionally good air, deep underground too. In the old Prettau climate tunnel, the air is so pure that asthmatics and allergy sufferers can breathe freely.
