  • In habitats

The protected habitats in the Ahrntal Valley are predominantly ponds, meres, pools, marshes and riparian forests. Small bodies of water are an extremely varied habitat for endangered animal species such as dragonflies. Marshes emerge where an excess of water is present. So it is no wonder that there are more than six habitats in the water-rich Ahrntal Valley. Intact marshes are in a position to alleviate the consequences of global warming, as they act as stores for greenhouse gases, which are released if they are destroyed. With respectful behaviour we can make a significant contribution towards protecting these natural areas.

What we can do:

  • take our litter home with us
  • not pollute bodies of water
  • leave plants and fungi in the ground
  • neither hunt, capture, harm nor disturb animals
  • leave motorised vehicles outside the area
