The Art of Bobbin Lace in the Ahrntal Valley and the World for centuries, mining played a central role in the history of the Ahrntal valley and shaped the landscape, but also the people. When copper mining fell into crisis in the 19th century, it was thanks to the hard-working, lace-making hands of the women of Prettau that the families were able to continue to survive.
The special exhibition "Mining and Bobbin Lace" tells the historical background, illustrates the ties between the two industries, draws portraits of influencial people and exhibits the finest lace - from lace fashion to lace art.
