Cultural events in the Ahrntal Valley and Sand in Taufers

Where traditions are practised and culture celebrated

We are proud of the traditions that have been handed down to us and our centuries-old culture. For things that especially interest us, we like to get together for a party! Gregarious lovers of South Tyrolean cuisine come together at the Taufers Street Food Fair, during the Alpine Cattle Drive we celebrate a summer well spent on the alp with decorated cattle and traditional music, at the Wood Carving Symposium we highlight regional handicrafts, whilst the Cheese Festival brings epicureans together from near and far. Join in and feel the passion.

Wood Carving Symposium
Every year in July, ten selected sculptors from all over the world come together to give new form to wood from our region.
“Reina Kiekemma” – alpine cattle drive with autumn festival
A sociable festival celebrating our well-fed Sprinzen, Schwarzbunt and Grauvieh cattle as they are welcomed back to the valley in all their finery.
musiKultur Taufers
Explore the events at this forum for beautiful music, platform for local artists and venue for music and culture...
Tauferer Strassenkueche (Street Food Fair)
Delicious local street food, colourful goings-on in the streets, handicrafts and cheese stalls and a programme of events especially for children... doesn't that sound like a great summer’s evening in Sand in Taufers?
TalKlang FestiVal Sand in Taufers
Krampus Procession
The approximately 450 goats’ feet with fearful “Lorfn” (masks) will cause plenty of goosebumps among the spectators at this extraordinary procession.
Kathrein Market
A traditional market at “Kothreine”, St. Katherine’s Day on 25th November. In addition to the flea market and cattle market, there are nuts, hot chestnuts, roast potatoes and more.
Advent in Taufers
This is where the magical time before Christmas really comes to life: in the enchanted Christmas forest, at the Xmas Sessions and in the seasonal “Kothrein” village.
Klausberg Ice Games
It’s fascinating to watch the artists from all over the world at the Klausberg Ski Arena as they make their larger than life snow sculptures.
