Botanic Pathway "Dr. Mutschlechner"
Path Description: St. Moritzen (Hotel Alte Mühle) “Schlosskreuz”,” Zolltor”,” Herrensteg”, get path description in: Sand in Taufers; Path 2a and 4 about Dr. Anton Mutschlechner: ''the wonder doctor'' Dr. Anton Mutschlechner is considered to be one of the most intelligent personalities of the Tauferer/Ahrntal. As a young man in school he stood out through his knowledge and his impressive memory. His areas of expertise were the liver, gall bladder and kidney. He had no problem dissolving gallstones that were as thick as fingers and making them disappear. For that reason he had clients coming from all over the world. Wealthy personalities from Syria, Morocco, Canada, Venezuela, even from New Guinea, visited him, and were, partially as a result of his „horse cures“, cured of their diseases.
He did not like opposition or objections during the treatment at all. Either a patient took his medicine and was cured, or he decided not to take the medicine and (therefore uncured) lived with the sickness. Dr. Mutschlechner also had a passion for antiques and was a keen collector. He was a very withdrawn character who barely spoke any words that were not needed. It is therefore a little surprising that he enjoyed the study of old languages up until his old-age. This genius died in 1977 taking most of his wisdom and many of his medical secrets with him. Sadly, he left very little for ensuing ages, which is a great pity.
