Kassel Hut

At an altitude of 2,274 metres, you can feel closer to God.

The view is tremedous and includes a number of beautiful glaciers.  Their unique beauty enticed hikers from around the 1900s.  The 'locals' walked up via the 'Herrenweg'.  By 1911, the Kasseler Hut had already accommodated around 3,210 people for an overnight stay.  Today, it is still as popular as ever.  The ideal starting point into the fascinating mountain world, which has turned into a nature reservation area.  Stones are marked and guide you easily along easy and more demanding routes.

 

Refuge hut experience
The Kasseler Hut is famous for its typical atmosphere and excellent cuisine.  Typical Tyrolean dishes include bread and cold meats, speck dumblings and goulash.  At an altitude like this, everything seems to taste much better.
